Develop lightweight, damage-tolerant cryogenic insulation for aerospace structures and full-scale tank geometries.
Technical contribution
Designed reinforcement architecture, fabrication tooling, quality-inspection methods, and cryogenic mechanical tests. Performed Instron testing near 10 K using liquid nitrogen and liquid helium; coordinated iterative fabrication and transfer to Boeing production methods.
Outcome
Supported production of more than 100 panels and full-scale insulation articles, advancing the concept from laboratory development toward qualified aerospace hardware.
