I am Randall Schubert, a mechanical and materials R&D engineer who helps turn early-stage scientific concepts into practical, testable, production-ready hardware.
Over approximately 18 years in engineering and research—including eight years at HRL Laboratories—I have developed mechanisms, tooling, custom test systems, automation, materials processes, and manufacturing methods for programs supporting Boeing, GM, Microsoft, and DARPA.
My work is concentrated in the difficult middle of the technology-readiness curve: taking a promising laboratory result through iterative development, verification, supplier coordination, and process scale-up toward qualified hardware and repeatable production.
This has included aircraft fuel-tank components, cryogenic insulation, lightweight heat exchangers, automated thermal-test equipment, composite manufacturing systems, precision measurement equipment, and experimental fabrication processes.
I am based in Istanbul and work with companies in Türkiye and internationally on product development, test and measurement systems, manufacturing challenges, and advanced hardware programs.
HOW I WORK
I combine mechanical design, materials engineering, experimental development, and practical manufacturing knowledge. Depending on the project, my involvement may include:
• Defining technical requirements and development risks
• Designing prototypes, fixtures, tooling, and test equipment
• Developing instrumentation and automated test methods
• Investigating failures and inconsistent processes
• Coordinating suppliers and specialized fabrication
• Supporting qualification, pilot builds, and production scale-up
The objective is not simply to produce drawings or reports. It is to develop a solution that works reliably in the real world.
